Welcome to Garrison Brothers distillery, a true craft American mainstay where making good whiskey, wrangler denim, and cowboy boots are here to stay. Stroll down the dirt road entry past the visitor center and as you approach the distillery and rickhouses, you’ll surely receive a warm welcome by Ferdinand. He’s an assemblage of chrome, auto-parts and shrapnel resembling a Texas longhorn, an iconic figure in the state.
As you approach the still house, you’ll catch them cooking a fresh batch of that Texas bourbon white-dog with the aromas nearly impossible to miss. Pay them a visit to learn about the process from start to finish and you’ll be exposed to a passionate bunch of Texans who simply want to share their love for good whiskey. Production demands on the ranch are at an all-time high these days with a loyal fan base looking to enjoy their next batch of Single Batch or Cowboy Bourbon. There are currently 10,000 barrels aging in over 21 barns. Most are 30 gallon barrels which make up a majority of their volume, but they also use 15 gallon barrels to give a rich, complex roux base to their Cowboy Bourbon. This stuff is truly unique and very tasty!
Their Cowboy Bourbon was released last week and their allocated amount sold out in less than four hours on-site! Purchased at the distillery and in select premise or specialty accounts, it’s surely a special occasion getting your hands on a bottle of this limited release. Fortunately for me, I happened to pay them a visit on the day they selected their barrels and were preparing for this highly anticipated day. I was actually able to sip some of this high octane juice straight from the barrel. Deep amber hue with barrel char to boot and loaded with flavor!
The exclusive release is a unique and delicious pour that resembles nothing on the market. It is truly a unique expression and something the crew are very proud about. Made from their piggy-bank barrels for depth of flavor and 30 gallon casks for added volume the combination is incredible. This beauty is only released every two years and is a bottle you do not want to miss!
If you’re looking for something a little more unique they have 375ml boot flasks to satisfy your needs. Double oaked, finished in local port casks or honeyed to perfection you will have no problem finding the right bottle.
